The View from a Drawbridge

Three months ago, I posted a blog entry called “Andy Johnson, SHAME on you!!!” about Andrew Johnson, Sr., former member of the Florida House of Representatives, long time progressive radio talk show host in Jacksonville, Florida who took $3,500.00 from me under false pretenses and refuses to pay it back. This man, whose slogan is “Down to Business Andy Johnson! Never neutral. But always fair” has ripped me off.

This is Andy Johnson

In June, 2009 I owned a house. The roof developed a leak and I was in a panic because I knew the whole thing was rotting above my head and I couldn’t afford to replace it. It would cost almost $6,000.00. I’d practically have to sell a vital organ to come up with that kind of money.

Andy Johnson offered to find a roofer who would do it at a substantial discount in exchange for free radio advertising at his radio station, WJSJ. My hero! In August, he told me to write him a check for $3,500.00 because he’d worked out a deal, and he gave me something in writing to that effect, so I got a loan and wrote him the check. I found out after the fact that when he took this money, he knew full well that he had no roof deal.

The upshot is that after all his excuses, and all my attempts to get my money back including a lawsuit which I won, here we are in 2013 and he hasn’t paid me back a single penny. He sits there in his huge house and I teeter on the edge of homelessness, and he has continued to show his low character by keeping my money.

With court costs, attorney’s fees and interests on the lein, Andrew Johnson, Sr., former member of the Florida House of Representatives, now owes me approximately $4,600.00.

Here’s the thing. Andy Johnson HATES negative publicity. Absolutely despises it. And ever since I posted that blog entry 3 months ago, an average of 5 viewers have seen it per day. It was even discussed at great length in a local democratic listserv. One of the comments there was something to the effect of, “He ripped my neighbor off like this, too.” So the word is spreading. The pressure is building. At the very least I hope that this information will prevent some other unfortunate person from being taken in by this shyster. I’ve no doubt that Andy Johnson is seeing this. So here’s my message directly to him:

Andy, first of all, how do you sleep at night? Second, I will not go away. I will not rest. I will keep telling the world the truth about you until I get my money. Count on it. But you can make this all go away by doing the right thing.
