Introducing My New Series: Dudgeon du Jour

Humanity will provide me with plenty of subject matter for this series.

Dear Reader, I woke up out of a sound sleep with a blog series idea that will be a lot of fun, I’m thinking, for both of us. Dudgeon du Jour.

Humanity will provide me with plenty of subject matter for this series. We do so love our tempests in teapots.

Doesn’t it astound you how often we get worked up about stupid, inconsequential bullsh*t while the freakin’ world is on fire around us? Why do we waste our time on things that don’t matter? We focus on the statistically insignificant possibility of a stubbed toe while an air conditioner is falling out of the 30th floor window right above our heads.

I’ll be writing about the stuff that makes you think, Really??? You’ve got to be kidding me!

This will be a series that plays to my strengths. If you’ve read my blog at all, you know that I do love a good rant. Going off on the stupidity of the human race is my sweet spot.

It also solves several problems. As much as I love to write, sometimes this blog is a source of stress for me due to its (admittedly self-imposed) deadlines, and because sometimes I am spectacularly uninspired. But Dudgeon du Jour will provide endless material. It was ever thus. Even before Shakespeare wrote Much Ado About Nothing, I’m quite sure we were much adoing.

And I love the title, because my mother used to use the phrase “in high dudgeon” all the time. And I myself love a good archaic phrase, so she was a woman after my own heart. And alliteration? Stop. I’m in love.

I also have to say that the disgruntled cat that ChatGPT chose for the logo is now my spirit animal. That cat is now the official mascot for unnecessary indignation. You’ve read it here first.

And this inspiration couldn’t have come at a better time, because at the time of this writing (long before you’re currently reading it, so don’t bother trying to burglarize my house next week, because I’ll already be back home), I have a week to go before my trip to Iceland, I haven’t even packed yet, and I need to write SIX blog posts before I leave so as not to have to think of this blog during my trip.

PANIC!!!

But I’m determined. Because, as much as I love you, Dear Reader, I refuse to blog while basking in the Blue Lagoon.
