I always feel so at the mercy of experts like plumbers and mechanics… having no real life skills and all…

Well, at least you have the advantage of your gender. They ASSUME you know what you’re doing. With me, they assume I don’t, and they’re sometimes right. That’s like telling an owl, “Yep, I’m a mouse. Please be kind.”

It doesn’t take them long to find out I know nothing… I am weird and chatty

If you were less chatty they’d assume you knew. Whereas with me they’ll always assume I don’t.

So I should tell the squirrels to shut the heck up?

Give ’em some nuts. That’ll distract them.

I need to be careful about doing that… ha

YouTube is your friend! I have tools and am not afraid to break them out and give it a go. Hanging a door is something you totally could have done yourself and the satisfaction would have been BIG! Pay a dude to do a little job? Not me!

Don’t get me wrong, Sofia, when I was a homeowner I remodeled my kitchen and bathroom myself and rewired the entire house. But now I’m a renter, and even the smallest screw up would be grounds for eviction.

Why didn’t the landlord make the repair then? Or buy the parts and hire a dude to install the door? If it’s that sensitive an issue, I wouldn’t to a thing to improve the place.

Well…. shhhhh… I wanted a dog door. So I have his door safely stored in the garage. I’ll put it back when I move out. What they don’t know won’t hurt them.
